MIssing or Outdated Software. UNCW's Department of Media Production uses Flash 10 software and QuickTime 7
software for web distribution of video. The most common problem we see is users that do not have the QuickTime 7 or Flash 10. Often times users have either QuickTime or Flash but do not have the current versions.
We recommend unninstalling and reinstalling Flash or QuickTime if you are having issues. Note that simply upgrading often times doesn't work.
Slow Internet or Network Connection. This site is optimized for broadband subscribers, streaming video is simply not effective over low speed internet connections.
Dial-up users may not be able to view the content. Busy networks can also lead to a poor experience;
if you are downloading other files wait until you are done before attempting to view content. We offer QuickTime playable download links to most of our files,
if you are on network to slow to support streaming you may download the file to your harddrive for viewing.
Lack of Patience. Please be patient while videos are loading,
they usually load in less than 5 seconds but depending on your computer, network conditions and server load it can take up to 30 seconds to begin playing. Clicking multiple times will only add furthr delay.
Busy events such as graduation will usually require extended wait times.
When Downloading a file it opens in your browser Depending on your browser and configuration your computer may attempt to view the download link in your browser.
It's better to right click on the download link and choose "Save Link As" (or equivelant).
